Microgaming has just released their newest online slot game, and it’s based on one of the biggest movie franchises of the 1990’s, Jurassic Park. The new pokie is a 5-reel machine that uses the 243 Ways system, in which there are no paylines, and any winning combination from left to right regardless of line, is deemed a winner.
The Jurassic Park pokie will naturally feature images of the many of the dinosaurs that made the movies legendary, including the velociraptors (which were greatly popularized by the original movie), the T-Rex, triceratops, and brachiosaurus. The new slot appears to offer a host of unique features in addition to the 243 Ways system, with five unique bonus rounds that are awarded randomly when players land three scatter symbols (an image of a mosquito trapped in amber). There’s also another mode that can be triggered at random called the T-Rex Alert mode, which adds 35 extrawild symbols to the reels for the next 6 turns. These modes should make for a very exciting and varied experience.
Microgaming landed the Jurassic Park license from Universal earlier this year, and has been hard at work crafting this new pokie ever since. The timing of the new slot isn’t as strange as it may seem on the surface (given that the franchise has been dormant for more than a decade), as it appears Jurassic Park 4 will finally be released in the summer of 2015 after more than a decade in “development hell”; a term typically used to describe when a project runs into various difficulties that prevent it from being completed as intended. All manner of script difficulties and turnover in staff and direction led to the long delays in finally getting the movie released. It’s now scheduled for a June 2015 release as Jurassic World, and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow.
